Wow. What a wild ride it has been from Simonton to Grand Teton National Park. Our journey took us 4 days which included a "Chill" day in Cheyenne, Wy. We drove through some beautiful country, some rain, and lots of snow as we were coming over the pass into Moran, Wy.
Yes, David made me stop here for dinner. No, we did not attempt the 72 oz. steak!
When we arrived at the Employee Campground, we were a bit surprised to find someone in our assigned RV spot. I can only imagine what was going through David's mind. We finally were reassigned a spot and are in our new "home" for the next few months. We have a million dollar view since we can see the mountains from our site, so we can't complain!
We have both started our jobs. I guess when you have owned your own businesses for over 25 years, you forget what "Corporate America" is all about. Our new neighbor reminded us it is just a summer gig. Enjoy life!
Here is David, armed with his bear spray. Don't leave home without it!
The best part of my job is in the drive in, and the drive home! I have seen the famous grizzly bears and their cubs. Last week, I managed to catch a glimpse at all 6 of them on my way in. That was an added bonus! We have spotted elk, pronghorn, a quick glimpse at a moose, coyote, grouse, and the bald eagles are starting to be seen as well.
The weather has been a mix of everything! You know the Texas saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes", well, here you don't have to wait that long. It can go from warm and sunny to rain in hail with a 25 degree temperature swing in a matter of minutes! Mornings have been in the 30s and 40s with temps quickly warming to 70 if the sun is shining!
We are headed out on our first hike today around Jenny Lake, weather permitting! Feel free to follow along as we hope for an incredible summer! You can follow on Instagram, Facebook, or by signing up on my website for the newsletter. How are things in your neck of the woods? We would love to hear from you!
Until next time, keep a Positive Altitude!
